New John Disco music
Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
As if I wasn’t happy enough being involved in about 18 bands, and assuming about 46 pseudonyms, I’ve decided to unleash some actual John Disco music via MySpace.
The plan with this new stuff is to in some way realise the initial goal set out in ‘94 of putting out some electronic-disco-funk, which was partly achieved by bis but mostly ended up on masses of 4-track tapes from 94-99. In 2008, it seems that the dance music of the late 70s and early 80s is once again influencing everyone and their gran. And the kids are loving it! So on one hand, now is the right time. On the other, does the world need more disco music? The former suits me. The continuing success of labels like DFA and Modular has been quite inspirational of late, and they show little sign of letting up…
So, check out the new style. There will be more stuff getting thrown up on MySpace fairly regularly, and hopefully some JD releases coming out soon…
